FABRIQUES architectures paysages – France
Since 2007 Pierre Janin has led FABRIQUES Architectures Paysages, a small architecture and landscape firm located in Lyon and in the Loire.
A registered architect with a research Master's in philosophy, Janin is also a State Council Architect.
The focus of FABRIQUES is agricultural and rural environments. These themes are developed through the construction of private and public agricultural buildings, the creation of buildings and public spaces using local materials in rural and semi-urban areas, and agri-urban studies which link urbanism and agricultural practices.
FABRIQUES works with rural communities to rethink and redevelop their built environment through a reinterpretation of traditional rural systems and constructions, using local resources and knowledge.
FABRIQUES recognizes and revalues rural land, using both architectural and landscape techniques to ensure a close relationship between the site and its users. The practice has won several awards over the years, while its projects have also been exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2016.
Pierre Janin assisted in the creation of the Capital Agricole exhibition at the Pavillon de l'Arsenal, in Paris in 2018-2019 and presented at the Cité de l'Architecture Conference, 2020.
