Guillaume De Martinis Tell a friend

Vallet de Martinis Architects – France

As a graduate of the Paris Belleville School of Architecture in 2003, Guillaume de Martinis’ education was marked by the teachings of Pierre Louis Faloci and Michel Kagan. He learned the trade of architecture at the firm of Marie Héléne Badia and Didier Berger in Paris for six years.
In 2009, he joined the practice of his friends Nicolas Toury and Antoine Vallet. The firm became Vallet de Martinis Architects in 2013, with Antoine Vallet and Guillaume de Martinis at the helm. With offices in Paris and Bordeaux, the firm works mainly on public projects and specializes in education and health facilities. Vallet de Martinis’ work raises questions on how a building can both respond to functional imperatives and surpass them to become architecture. The work focuses on materiality in the widest sense. Through the act of transforming materials into volumes, it reflects on light and emptiness, while remaining committed to responsible choices as regards the economy, durability and origin of materials. Vallet de Martinis’ work aspires to rationality as intelligent simplicity.
