RAMDAM Architecture Studio – France

Franck Dibon has created RAMDAM Architecture Studio, located in Paris and Angers (France), in 2009, along with Olivier Misischi. RAMDAM favours a non-formalist yet use-centred approach, while keeping interventionism to a minimum. RAMDAM endeavours to elaborate free plans that allow flexibility in the use of space. We adopt an almost primitive approach that echoes the principles of phenomenology, a philosophy that excludes any abstract interpretation and limits itself to the description and analysis of perceived phenomena only. We are increasingly interested in the relationship between matter and form.

He archetype is enriched by the basic material used and the gestures involved in its elaboration. Paradoxically, the more dematerialized life becomes, the more we feel the need to return to tangible experiences; we seek the textures and imperfections of authentic, non synthetic materials that are manufactured locally. An inspiration from Arte Povera, which encourages people not just to use poor materials but to be poor in means. By returning to primitive manufacturing processes, we aim to achieve economy in both means and materials, while expressing a form of poetic sobriety.
