Project description: The protocol pavilion designed for the ceremony to be held on the anniversary of the Turkish Republic resembles the Turkish Flag with its red, dynamic, and fluctuating structure.
The sense of rhythm created by the disciplined and simultaneous movements of the military parades in the ceremonies is the main input of the design.
The requirement to design and construct the structure in a very short time and the fact that it’s forbidden to make excavations and foundations in the historical peninsula were the main inputs.
A dynamic shape was obtained by rotating a single 10m aluminum plate repeatedly. This structure is the first example in Turkey where aluminum of this size was bent and made ready for direct installation.
As a result, a mass of 80 tons is supported without a foundation with 5 meters of cantilever beames on both sides.
