The Mercer is an office-commercial building. It is located on 1100 sqm, corner parcel on Fevzipaşa Boulevard in Izmir. The total construction area is 8900 sqm. Here, the historical Kemeraltı Bazaar and the contemporary urban texture create a harmony.

Located on the boulevard, The Mercer aims to create a timeless identity inspired by this fabric of the environment. The form of the mass is a natural outcome of the existing parcel boundaries which don’t have a clear geometry. Brick, as an organic material, constitutes the main character of the facade within the historical texture.

Blending natural bricks with variable openings aimed to exhibit a contemporary design approach within the historical context. The surrounding historical building window openings and their rhythms are revisited as a source of inspiration for the facade organization. A transparent tear on the facade reflects the surrounding historical silhouette with respect to the historical buildings’ leave levels.
