DEMAIN architecture paysage – France

Diego Romero is a partner and founder of DEMAIN. He is an architect specializing in sustainable development, landscape design, and urban civil engineering.

DEMAIN is an architecture and landscaping studio created by Diego Romero and Joachim Bakary in Lyon-France. Architects' aim is to be a place of creation and collaboration for the design of architectural, landscape, and urban planning projects.

The studio takes advantage of the multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to promote a new art of living through sober and adapted design solutions. The architects believe in a frugal model where we can live, at the same time, with pleasure and in harmony with our environment. They are convinced that the pleasure of living as a community need is essential and shall be the driving force for the proposed projects. They want to rediscover space through playfulness, excitement, permeability, dreaminess, quietness, optimism.

The practice's work inserts a humanist approach at the heart of the projects, in close association with nature. The architects experiment with new interdependency relationships between habitat and landscape, offering innovative methods to associate space and materials. Their approach is ecological and contextual, where each project is a garden and/or a terrestrial environment to inhabit. "Architecture" is no longer an isolated object, but instead, it is a garden to inhabit and, the landscape, an environment to live in. Their approach is described as a continuous reconciliation between architecture and landscape.

DEMAIN develops a work benchmark based on criticism and research, being bold and rigorous so that every future project develops a unique story.
