SLIM34 is wall-mounted LED fixture used to illuminate the exterior of commercial buildings. As an environmentally conscious, full cut-off fixture, SLIM34 helps reduce light pollution by only shining light downward. SLIM34 was designed to be as sustainable as possible through careful choices in materials, size reduction, and packaging. With an optimized installation process, SLIM34 is as user friendly as it is environmentally friendly. SLIM34’s front housing is made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic.

The back housing is uncoated aluminum. The aluminum is uncoated to reduce pollutants during the finishing process. Moreover, uncoated aluminum is both easier to recycle and creates less CO2 emissions during the recycling process. The design of SLIM34 was optimized for size and weight. The fixture is 32% smaller than the product it replaces and weighs 45% less. This product assists in an overall reduction of the company’s carbon footprint. This is accomplished by decreasing overall product size, which lessens resource consumption in manufacturing and shipping.

On average, the brand’s new products are 43% smaller and 42% lighter than previous generations. Per year, this saves 85 tons of CO2, and 2130 tons of aluminum—enough material to produce 30 Bowing-747 planes! To further reduce product SKUs, SLIM34 is field-adjustable; a single product can meet a wider variety of consumer needs. To make packaging more sustainable, SLIM34 is shipped with recycled cardboard boxes. SLIM34’s packaging contains no EPE foam or plastic bags. Instead, pulp and composite fillers are used, and nonwoven, bamboo fiber fabric.

As a smaller product, SLIM34 requires smaller packaging (and therefore less material), and can be transported more efficiently by shipping more product per container. To help further reduce material usage, the installation instructions for SLIM34 are accessed digitally, via QR code. Finally, SLIM34’s design focuses on creating an ideal installation experience. Installers can easily unfasten and hinge it open. The door remains open without support from the technician during wiring. Once the necessary connections are made, the product is hinged closed, and is locked into position.
