Santa Rosa Junior College sought to modernize its 80-year-old Burbank Auditorium by transforming and updating all interior spaces and expanding to support its popular performing arts program while preserving the building’s historic shell in keeping with the character of the campus.

The energy efficiency goal was to achieve compliance with the California state standards and to pursue Zero Net Energy.

The Renovation and Addition have reduced energy consumption through automatic daylight dimming and energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures throughout the buildings, including theatrical performance lighting, as well as in exterior areas.

Energy Sub-Metering for ongoing monitoring and management of energy consumption is integrated into the project. Additionally, Low-flow fixtures go beyond requirements from 2013 CalGreen Standard, Division 5.2 Water Efficiency and Conservation.

The building also features a geothermal heating and cooling system that eliminates the use of natural gas for any of its building systems.
