Modern mountain bikes are equipped with sophisticated systems that provide a wealth of data on technical aspects such as battery and mechanical conditions. Additionally, riders might want to access information about trail difficulty, which can vary from very easy to expert levels, directly through their bike. This information is crucial at any given moment; however, a conventional dashboard can be cumbersome and unsafe to operate while riding, as it requires the rider's attention to be diverted from the trail conditions ahead.
Trek has partnered with Loft to develop a sophisticated all-in-one solution that integrates directly into the bicycle's handlebar. This system features an embedded Small Language Model running on CPUs on a small scale processing module to power a generative AI can run exclusively on CPUs.
This assistant enhances the riding experience by providing real-time insights into riding conditions, and environmental factors through a conversational interface designed to keep cognitive load minimal. Embedded in the handlebar and connected wirelessly to an intercom in the rider's helmet, it offers continuous updates and advice. The system gives riders a detailed view of their bike's status and the surrounding environment, ensuring they are well-informed without distraction.
Riders can effortlessly enhance their enjoyment and simplify their experience with real-time status updates and intuitive interactions from an AI agent integrated within their helmet. This streamlined solution delivers essential information, such as route conditions, trail details, necessary skill levels, battery status, and range forecasts, directly to the rider. This seamless flow of data ensures that riders can stay well-informed and concentrated on the pleasure of their ride without the distraction of managing multiple devices or extensive equipment.
