Safety is paramount in the fast-paced world of industrial operations, especially around forklifts and other mobile equipment. Matrix Design Group's OmniPro® Vision AI collision avoidance system is a cutting-edge AI-driven solution designed to enhance safety and help prevent accidents before they occur.
What sets OmniPro apart is its advanced visual artificial intelligence; detecting pedestrians, vehicles and other potential hazards in the path of mobile equipment. It functions effectively in various conditions, including low-light and all-weather environments, making it versatile for different industrial applications.
One of the standout features of OmniPro is its fully customisable alert zones. This means the system is tailored to meet specific operational needs, ensuring maximum safety without unnecessary interruptions. Its high-speed processing capability minimises false positives and nuisance alerts, a common issue that desensitises workers to alarms.
OmniPro operates without the need for personal wearable devices or tags. It can detect pedestrians in various postures, whether they are standing sideways, crouching, kneeling or partially obscured – even if they are wearing PPE. This ensures comprehensive safety coverage in diverse operational scenarios.
The system provides visual and audible alerts for zone breaches, notifying equipment operators and pedestrians alike. It optionally integrates with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) controls to slow down or remove power from the throttle when a hazard is detected in the zones, adding an extra layer of safety.
OmniPro Vision AI additionally features the OmniPro InFocus cloud application. This powerful tool provides 24/7 access to a dashboard with real-time metrics and analytics, giving management critical operational insights. Data on zone breach incidents, including timestamped photos, is recorded and stored for future reference. Essential reporting is available, such as average daily breaches per machine and trending breaches over time, alongside custom reporting and analytics.
The system is designed for flexibility and safety, offering custom zone setups tailored to each facility, with support for both mobile and fixed cameras to manage intersections, safety doors, and pedestrian access. It features five digital inputs and five relay outputs, operates on a wide voltage range (12–48 VDC), and includes auto-switching cameras that monitor travel direction.
A built-in web UI eliminates the need for local software, while seamless integration with most OEMs allows installation on any mobile equipment. The system is low maintenance with wireless upgrades, supports up to four cameras, and accommodates future sensors and devices. It minimises false alerts, detects pedestrians in any posture, and includes visual and audible alerts. Compact, rugged, and weather-resistant, it operates without the need for tags on people or equipment.
Each camera features a compact, rugged design with high-speed on-device image processing at the edge and IP67-rated water and weather resistance. It supports up to five fully customisable alert zones per camera, allowing different actions for different object types. A Time of Flight (ToF) sensor detects obstructions or blockages, while an ambient light sensor adjusts for low-light conditions, aided by an infrared cut filter for enhanced night vision. The durable Gorilla® Glass lens cover ensures long-lasting protection in harsh environments.
The cloud platform logs zone breach incidents with timestamped photos and supports image capture up to five seconds before and after events. It features analytics for images, events, and fleet activity, with real-time data, trend tracking, and event graphing. Accessible 24/7 on-site or remotely via Wi-Fi, cellular cloud, or local system, it retains a minimum of 30 days of data. Optional face blurring is available, and built-in intelligence highlights near misses, high-risk zones, and driver safety trends.
Machine Integration: Can auto-slow machine or remove power to accelerator pedal to control vehicle speed In-Cab Monitor: Can support up to four camera feeds simultaneously with automatic video-feed switching for direction of travel or zone breaches.
OmniPro delivers critical safety support across demanding environments such as fast-paced warehouses, operations with narrow aisles or complex racking, and facilities with large obstructions or blind corners. It helps mitigate risks tied to equipment blind spots, fatigued or inexperienced workers, and frequent shift changes. Additionally, it supports operator training by identifying safe versus risky driving behaviours and travel paths.
