With Knoll he worked 3 decades as Director of Design in Paris, London, Milan and New York.

He commissioned designers ranging from Ettore Sottsass, GianFranco Frattini, Ross Lovegrove, Frank Gehry to Maya Lin.

He founded the Knoll Museum and established the visionary Knoll Design Symposium at the Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Since forming CGM Design NY in 2005 he has designed products for Knoll, Teknion, iDesk, Allseating, Nienkämper, 000 Porsche Editions, Momemntum and Spinneybeck/Filzfelt.

He has garnered over 40 design awards including Contract Magazines Legend Award for Lifetime Achievement.

His lectures on design matters for clients include BMW, Knoll, Waterworks, Maharam, Teknion, SCAD, Yale Art Gallery and Art Center College of Design and juried design at Yale, RISD, ACCD and IF Germany.

He increasingly dedicated energy to pro bono projects, As board member of The Bertoia Foundation and Madworkshop, he has advanced community design and projects with The Architectural League, Pratt Institute to a current sculpture project in Venice, Italy.
