Design Partners in collaboration with Honeywell create the first ‘smart’ gas detector for industrial environments, protecting people and assets.

Known for the highest quality premium gas and flame detectors in the world, Honeywell had no compelling offer at entry level. 

We approached the solution holistically. Analysing and understanding all stakeholders in the route to market, we considered every touch point that we felt the brand could bring value to. Every step of each user’s experience has been optimised to produce the world’s most efficient to install, commission, and maintain gas detection system.

Design Partners designed the Sensepoint XRL, a wall mounted, blue tooth enabled, multi-purpose gas detection system that delivers safety, compliance, durability at more affordable cost, and with unprecedented ease of use.

The XRL is a robust, reliable and accurate gas detection product adherent to explosion proof and EXE global safety standards required in demanding and hazardous 1 & 2 environments such as pharmaceutical plants and fuel depots.

Inside an explosion proof casing there is a choice of sensors for different gases (oxygen, carbon monoxide, methane, propane and others). If you need to monitor more than one gas hazard you can use several detectors in different parts of your operation.

The product marks the roll out of a new design language for Honeywell products, positioning it as an intuitive, versatile and smart solution from a reliable and durable brand. 

Sensepoint optimises Bluetooth and mobile app technology so now many manual, time consuming work has been replaced with intuitive and automated workflows. It has been designed with multiple users needs and workflows in mind, so engineers can easily install, commission, and maintain a Sensepoint eco-system. It is the perfect entry level solution for anyone who needs to enhance workplace protection.

Quicker installation / Rapid configuration
Sensepoint is easy and intuitive to use and can be installed in minutes (previously a two-man task). Everything is in the box, designed and organized for a quick convenient start-up. A simple drilling ‘how to’ template, captive screws and a standard toolkit allow for an efficient physical installation.

Maintenance is also straightforward because users can pair the gas detector with their mobile phone and use the new app to perform tasks related to installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. From adjusting settings to checking fault codes - no more need to find the manual and decipher instructions, the app puts diagnostic information at your fingertips. It is a much safer product to use, especially when working in hazardous or difficult to access environments.

The mobile App enables a simple commissioning process that removes time and error and enhances compliance.

Calibration on the app is equally simple, all it takes is a cylinder of calibration gas and an electronic mobile device - no more need for walkie-talkie communication with the control room., ladders or other accessories, it is now one-man job instead of two.

An intuitive LED light ring on the device synchronises with your mobile App and gives the user clear feedback on whether the detector is active or inhibited. This is a necessary and reassuring indicator, as engineers do not want to set off the alarm in any facility whilst calibrating.

Reports on the Spot – No more paperwork
Users can create profiles for each detector, choose alarm set points, run test procedures, and share data, all from their phone, or store for auditing purposes. Previously, technicians spent up to a day a week manually generating test certificates and distributing reports. The new interactive UX design saves time and reduces costs.
