A proposal for a new music centre in the birthplace of Chopin. The form of the building is designed in a way that preserves the natural values of the landscape and respects the context of the site, while creating spatial links through the park. The building’s orientation creates extensive public space in the north of the site, while situating building services & technical areas to the south.

The concert halls for 500 & 160 audience, training, education, and conference facilities are clustered around the public foyer spaces, whose locations are dictated by the aim to provide direct visual and spatial links with surrounding park.

The centre’s elegant wooden façade suggests the form of a pergola, and its expansive glazing ensures the public spaces flow into the interior. The project investigates using large – scale CLT elements with strong emphasis on sustainability both in terms of material and energy conservation.
