Tychy Water Park - Andrzej Truszczyński

Tychy, Poland

The Tychy Water Park project's task was to create the most eco-friendly and energy-efficient modern water park. To achieve that the team worked with the shape. They started with a sphere and turned it into a circle that they stretched to an ellipse to expose it more to the south. As the result, they established the mainframe.

The complex works in synergy with a wastewater treatment plant serving as a bio-energy power plant HUB. Together they create energy for the Aquatic Center as well as for the city. The building produces twice as much energy as it consumes!

Architecture is inspired by nearby Paprocany Lake and reflects it by using curved forms. The design uses chameleon panels that look like water in a lake that changes depending on sunlight. The team also decided to unite two unusual functions, education and recreation, with Education Center and Gamification.
