Rennes, France
The project took place in Brest, a city on the west north coast in France, and was completed in 2016. The Brittany board is leading an important operation to develop Brest’s harbor and wished to share the project with the population all along its construction.
The creation of an interpretive site with an exhibition offers to the visitor tools to understand this very important project for the economic future of the city. The exhibition is 180 square meters and situated at the ground floor of a building situated in Bassam’s street.
“ L’Espace découverte” offers the possibility to find out about the harbor history but also to discover the current project, to know about its development, its features and its principal issues.
The room is divided into different spaces thanks to wooden furniture used for the reception desk, tables that include screens, pictures and maps about Brest’s harbor. Numerous contents and supports are so put to the disposal of the visitors. The digital devices were realized in partnership with the European School of Art of Brittany which give an innovative side to the exhibition and allows to imagine the future harbor: virtual reality views, 3D projection of the project, ...
Five different exhibition areas are spread on both side of the reception, the rest including a children space and bleachers facing a screen used for video projection. The display is cut into 4 sections: the history of the harbor since its creation in 1860, the commercial harbor today, the project and its different sites, and the marine renewables energies that will take place in Brest.
The project will be open from 2016 to 2020 during all the constructions and the images and texts will be updated according to the progress.
