Kerpe Cad. No:13/A Kıncıllı Kandıra , Kocaeli, Turkey

Narköy is an educationally focused facility founded to provide services as an organic farm and hotel. With its 14 rooms, family and group lodging units, nomad tents, a restaurant featuring organic farm meals, indoor and outdoor classrooms, organic agricultural farming, and a magnificent forest abundant with nature’s delights, Narköy allows to take part in a variety of trainings, activities and workshops, enjoy a holiday in the heart of nature, or to work and develop projects with colleagues, far from the tumult of the city.

The centre of the village is a multifunctional building for training activities. It includes accommodation units as well as services, such as restaurant, spa and meeting spaces.

The landscape and architectural design have been conceived as a whole: built spaces are in continuity with exterior circulation through the landscape. The aim was to create an awareness of the surrounding environment through perspectives, offered by the circulation areas, and framing inside the units.

The centre is 80% autonomous in term of food supply, energy and water management. We used sustainable principles in every stage of the project: solar panels, wood pellet boilers, water recycling by phytopurification, natural materials as wood, local stone and other sustainable materials...rainwater is also collected in a storage to water landscape and organic fields. The project has been designed to take maximum advantage from natural light.

The construction technique is prefabricated cold steel. We choose this method not to waste construction material and to build fast and in a less noisy way to not disturb the natural life of the surrounding forest. The buildings are raised from the ground to let rainwater and microorganisms to move in the soil freely.
