MeMA is [something] about administrative and commercial needs that we try to establish without fully knowing where it starts or where it ends... MeMA exists since we decided to be part but also stand against the system , between concrete (real) and abstract (virtual reality) discussions. MeMA Atelier, works on urban issues and architectural problems. Is architecture an occupation? - We find this definition more accurate - or is it a profession? (Since the beginning of the 20th century, I think , architecture is one of the professions which is described less and less satisfactorialy.)

 

He was born in 1975 in Antalya. He began his architectural studies at Anatolian University of Eskişehir from 1991 until 1993.

Graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1995. He received his Master’s degree from Mimar Sinan University in 1997, on “Construction Knowledge”. In 2000, he started the PhD program on “Virtual Architecture” in Yildiz Technical University, but did not complete it. In 2004, he was nominated for the National Architecture Awards for an architectural competition “Life Project Idea Presentation in Environmental field”. After school , he started to work with architect Nevzat Sayın between the years 1996 and 2004 (which he always regards as a second training experience). Then he went

independent in his practice but kept on collaborating with ‘NSMH ’. In 2012 he won the “Young Architect" of the Year Awards organized by the prestigious Arkitera in Turkey. He continuous his a practice and shares his professional experience with future architects. He had teached in Yildiz Technical University , Istanbul Kultur University. Last semester he ran a project studio for 3rd years students in Istanbul Bilgi University.
