Ioannis Karalias - Vice President of the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, Chairman of the European Center for Architecture Design art, and Urban Studies

Ioannis Karalias is an architect, poet and painter. He was born in Katerini, in Greece. He educated at the University of Graz, (Austria), at the University of Naples(Italy) and at the University of Illinois at Chicago (United States). He is Vice President of the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and is Chairman of the European Center Of Architecture Design art, and Urban Studies with offices in Dublin, Ireland and Athens, in Greece. He has designed several large-scale installations at the Museum of London's Design, as well as major exhibitions for the Chicago Athenaeum Museum in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Mexico, Prague, Thessaloniki, Milan, and Warsaw, in Lisbon, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. Ioannis Karalias designed the Chicago Athenaeum’s 20-acre International Sculpture Park in Schaumburg of Illinois, U.S.A. He has also designed furniture for several major U.S companies and has been frequently exhibited at the Salon di Mobile in Milan. He has participated in many exhibitions as «Real Furniture / Fake Furniture», «Five Chicago Architects », « Seven Ancient Wonders of the World »and designed furniture Governor of Illinois for the new building of the State of Illinois. As an architect, Ioannis Karalias has designed and renovated numerous private residences and cultural spaces in the United States and in Greece. As a poet, his latest book of poetry, Gatherings, was published by Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd in the United States. As a painter, his works have been featured at major museums and galleries throughout Europe, South America and the United States.


Arampatzis Iosif - CEO at Epikyklos Construction Company

Mr. Arampatzis Iosif is the CEO of the Epikyklos Construction Company, which was founded in 2008 and counts until today hundreds of construction and renovation projects. An innovation admirer introduced in 2011 to the Greek market the pre-costed housing renovation packages. In 2015, studying the needs of Greece tourism industry, he launched predefined packages for hotel renovation. In 2016 he creates a new research department in Epikyklos premises, where new materials are tested and used in the company's projects. Always seeking creative collaboration with the community of architects, he transforms the company's offices into an open space where the inspirational experience of designers meets the experience of construction. A person with artistic and social sensibilities has made the presence of Epikyklos essential in all major cultural events in Athens. With a vigilant look at the developments of the construction and real estate market, he is active since 2017 in the real estate sector and has created a gateway to cooperation with the largest investors inside and outside the country's walls.
 


Douvlou Elena - Architect - MArch Architecture & Urbanism Faculty of Engineering & Architecture

Dr Douvlou is a registered architect and since 2015 the Programme Leader of MArch Architecture & Urbanism at Mitropolitiko College (AMC), in Marousi Campus, Greece. She completed a PhD in the area of energy building design and thermal comfort and holds a MAArch Advanced Architectural Design degree in the area of Bioclimatic Architecture both at the University of Sheffield,School of Architecture, UK. She has been teaching since 1999 in the topics of Bioclimatic Architecture, Environmental Design and Sustainability, Thermal Comfort, Urban Design and Regeneration and Architectural Synthesis. She has been employed as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of MSc Architecture & Sustainability programme at the University of Portsmouth, as researcher and associate Professor in European and American institutions (e.g. University of Sheffield,UK and Boston Architectural College , USA). She has published over 20 research papers and presented her research at various international conferences. She has supervised Masters and PhD Theses and Dissertations, and is an assessor of scientific publications and book reviews for architecture and environmental design. She is a member of the TEE (Technical Chamber of Greece), the Architects Registration Board (ARB, UK) and the British Royal Higher Education Academy (HEA, UK).


Karagouni Elena - Publisher, Editor in Chief of the "Hotel Design Magazine"

Studied “Communication and Media Studies” in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where she also obtained her Master in “Digital Media”. Attented several courses of “History of Art” at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and at Francisco de Vitoria University of Madrid.Is the Publisher and Editor in Chief of the “Hotel Design Magazine” and “SYNEDRIO Magazine” and of the Online Magazines: akx.gr (“Anthropos kai Xoros” Architecture and Design), HotelDesign.gr, SYNEDRIO.gr, MedicalCongress.gr, MICE.gr (Meeting-Incentive-Congress-Event), CABARE.gr (Cafe-Bar-Restaurant), Travel-Agent.eu, HotelMag.gr.


Giannoutsos Giannis - Architect, Visual Artist

Giannis Giannoutsos is an Architect (National Technical University of Athens, 2005 - 2011) and a Visual Artist (Athens School of Fine Arts, 2011 - 2016). In 2015 he established his own architectural office and studio in the center of Athens. His contribution into the wider community of researchers and creative artists is unfailingly expressed through his participation in both Panhellenic and international architecture and visual arts exhibitions and conferences, among them the 8th Biennale of Young Greek Architects (2015), the International Conference on the constructed Environment in Venice (2011) and Lisbon (2014), the U.I.A. Exhibition of Contemporary Greek Architecture in Moscow (2016). He has further taken part in prestigious Panhellenic architectural Competitions and received several awards.In 2017 he earned a further distinction, the Europe’s emerging architect-“40 under 40 Award” from the European Centre for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies, Chicago Athenaeum. In 2016 and 2017 he received the DOMES prize – International review of Architecture: Award (2016), Honorary Mention (2016, 2017).Since 2016 he has been teaching Architectural planning design in the Department of Architecture of the University of Thessaly, Volos and since 2017 he has been teaching Architectural planning design in the Department of Architecture of the University of Patras. He lives and works in Athens as an Architect and a Visual Αrtist.
