José Cadilhe Tell a friend


José Cadilhe was born in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal, in 1980. He graduated as an architect from the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, in 2005. His final thesis was awarded the Second Prize for Total Concept Category at The Stoneguard Phoenix Awards Design Competition, London. In 2012, he finished a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism at the Architectural Association School of Architecture - Design Research Laboratory.

His professional experience started in 2006 and has collaborated with Biothing, Zaha Hadid Architects and Heatherwick Studio. In 2009 he founded his own architectural practice dIONISO LAB, in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. The studio tries to challenge contemporary architecture with innovative concepts and new design approaches. Through different forms of experimentation or fabrication processes, alternative methods are explored to enhance the creative process, accepting failure as a new opportunity.

His work has been awarded with several national and international awards and published worldwide.
