New FINSA headquarters - Miguel Alonso Flamarique - Spain

The new building that connects the existing offices of Finsa is built as a common place for the different workers of the company and the visitors. A space for gathering that gives the headquarters of the company a more open and modern representative image, and underpins the industrial and material origin from which it comes from.

The proposal approach is based on a simple organization and composition, with open and flexible spaces. It is intended to transmit with the building a character according to the philosophy of the company.

A regulatory grid generates and orders the space, the scale, the program and the relationship with the exterior and natural light; a free plan of great versatility. The square module of 3 x 3m, whose dimensions are suitable to generate the different meeting areas, equally maintains both directions allowing to create a dynamic space without any marked alignment.

Inside this grid, which is easily visible defined by the structure of laminated wood beams, two perforations are included: the staircase and the patio, which order and hierarchize the free plan around them in both levels of the building. Both elements also increase the verticality of the building and fulfill a double function: to expand the spatial perception of the ground floor and to connect both floors physically and visually through visual suggestive diagonals. In addition, numerous roof skylights improve the quality of the spaces, introducing abundant light diffuse in the grayest days of Santiago.

The building shows the predominant use of wood in a generalized and visible way: laminated wood structure, floor and roof framing, boards, finishes in false ceilings, flooring and wall paneling. The different structural and constructive elements are arranged and designed with the least possible redundancy of materials and solutions.

The volumetric simplicity is extended to the design of the glazed facades without visible framing, to enhance the feeling of "connection" between the two existing buildings, as well as with the landscape, the nearby exterior, the building itself and the factory behind.

Regarding the program, the building does not contain any fix working space or departmental area. On the ground floor is the lobby, the reception and a multipurpose space. The first floor as a central "square" delimited by various meeting rooms of different sizes and multipurpose furniture to accommodate different meeting formats.

The intervention in the outer areas solves accesses with soft slopes and parterres, generating a more natural environment, with trees and pedestrian paths in the surroundings of the new building that will be extended in future phases to the rest of the area.
